Here we will show you how to do an excursion to Saint Catherine Monastery. This can be achieved as an overnight trip from Cairo, or as an overday tour from Sharm El-Sheikh depending on your itinerary.

Overnight excursion from cairo

Day 1 : Breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, then you will be picked up with a private transfer to go to Saint Catherine village in Sinai. We will drive through the Desert Highway then cross the tunnel under the Suez Canal to enter the Peninsula of Sinai. You will arrive late afternoon at your hotel near to the Monastery. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Very early morning pick up to go to climb the Mount of Moses, which is considered to be one of the highest mountains in Egypt (2285 meters above sea level). You can climb to the top on foot or you can hire a camel from the Bedouins there for two thirds of the road and the rest shall be continued on foot. All this is to arrive to the top which is the Holly Place where Moses spoke to God and received the Ten Commandments. There is a small chapel there built over that Holy Site. Also there you can enjoy an amazing view of the sunrise that you will never forget and it's really worth all the effort. After sunrise you will start going all the way down back to your car to be transferred to your hotel to get breakfast and checkout. Then we will head to visit the Monastery of Saint Catherine where we will see its masterpieces: The Burning Bush and the Church of Transfiguration of Jesus.

At the end, we will head back to your hotel in Cairo.

Overday excursion from sharm el-sheikh

If you are staying in Sharm El-Sheikh, you can still do the same excursion above from there. You will be picked up late night from your hotel, do not forget to take a breakfast box with you prepared by your hotel as well as a pillow to sleep in the bus . You will be transferred directly to the Monastery of Saint Catherine and the Mount of Moses. Upon arrival we will start to climb the Mount of Moses as described above, and on the way down you will stop by the Monastery to visit as explained. Then we will return to the bus to go back to your hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh.
