Excursion from Aswan
Abu Simbel are 2 temples built by Pharaoh Ramesses II in the Nubian land, they are Rock-cut temples. They own very beautiful colored scenes that are still in a very good condition.
These 2 temples were originally located on the bank of the River Nile, but when Egypt needed to build the High Dam to help Egypt overcome the dry seasons when the flood was not enough and to save the water of the River Nile not to be lost on the Mediterranean Sea, also to generate Hydroelectric power to enable Egypt to have big factories and modern civilization, so these temples as well as many other temples in the Nubian land were in danger to be completely covered by the water of the great artificial lake that would be formed behind the Dam , names later as (The Lake of Nasser, some locals also call it the Nubian Sea) so Egypt asked the help of the UNESCO to save the treasures of Egypt, the world gathered to save the treasures and the temples were cut and rebuilt on a higher level , this was a great process and a miracle of the modern time.
The 2 Temples of Abu Simbel are the masterpiece among all these temples due to their condition, original colors and paintings, also the Great Temple of Abu Simbel owns a miracle of Ancient Egyptian Architecture as for 2 times every year the light of the sun when rising will enter the temple to enlighten the face of the statue of the Pharaoh in the sanctuary , and for these events many people come from all around the world to see.
